An independent analyst group, Ovum, has calculated that to justify the cost of rural exchange upgrade, BT needs recruit only 10 business and 40 home subscribers. BT dismisses this analysis.
Pressure group Broadband-4-Britain (BB4B) is mounting a "Flashpoint 50" campaign based on these figures, calling on the government to enforce the upgrade of 20 percent of exchanges with a year. BB4B is apparently looking for "local hero" representatives in community groups to map the local demand for broadband. They will then publish a national demand map to service providers...
