AWARD WINNING POETS AT FESTIVAL!

The novelist, poet and playwright Jackie Kay, who is appearing at the Hebden Bridge Little Theatre on July 5th as part of the town's Arts Festival, was last week awarded a Cholmondeley Award by the Society of Authors at the London Barbican.

This prize is given to recognise the achievement and distinction of individual poets.

With her on stage will be playwright Julia Darling, winner of the 2003 Northern Rock Foundation Writer's Award (the UK's biggest literary prize).

It's an example of the status of the Festival that our small town can offer this rare opportunity to hear two of the country's finest poets talking about their work.
