The Power of Compassion

Tashi Lhunpo Monastery Tour 2004

St Michael's Church, Mytholmroyd

8.00pm (to 10.00pm approx) £8 (£6)

Following their triumphant sell-out performance at the 2002 Festival, we are delighted to welcome back the monks from Tashi Lhunpo. They bring a programme of dances, music and chants, which illustrate the full range and diversity of this astonishing culture. The monastery (established in South India following the Chinese occupation of Tibet) is famous for its unique traditions of masked dances and sacred music.

William Blake: Man without a Mask

Ruth Rosen

Little Theatre, Holme Street, Hebden Bridge

8.00pm £8 (£6)

An inspiring and moving journey through the mind of the visionary genius William Blake by Britain's leading poetry and prose performer, Ruth Rosen. Poet, painter, engraver and prophet, William Blake was one of England's most fascinating and original sons. She draws from his poems, letters and prose to present a sensitive and dynamic insight into Blake as artist, poet and visionary. "An inspired theatrical performance of great power and beauty" (Time Out).
