Hebden Bridge Arts Festival 2001

KEITH WAITE AND THE MACUSI PLAYERS

Keith is one of the most innovative and exciting talents in the UK. With his band, The Macusi Players, Keith Waithe has toured the world. His distinctive compositional style, which uses African rhythms, Asian fusion systems, Caribbean sounds and club music, has been widely acknowledged and critically acclaimed at major venues and festivals nationally and internationally. The band members include some of the key contributors to the British contemporary music scene. Chris Jerome (keyboards), Helen McDonald (vocals), Manjit Rasiya (tablas), Nana Appiah (Ghanaian drums), Eustace Williams (bass), Kofi Adu (drums) and JoJo Yates (kora) together form a formidable ensemble. Amazingly because of Arts Council tour funding you can get to see this spectacular group of internationally acclaimed musicians at your local cinema. There is a late bar and plenty of room to dance, so expect an unforgettable night of pure pleasure and quality entertainment.
