Sun dial in the square

What is the point of putting a sundail in the square? Why not get one of the many talented artists and designers we have in Hebden Bridge to come up with something more original? Sue Lawty, for instance has an international reputation for design in stone and is artist in residence at the V&A. Make use of local talent. Eschew the Dimmockesque!

Apart from the crass nature of the proposal there are two other reasons for not having a sundial in the square:

1) There is already a sundial on the gable opposite the old council buildings.
2) There is very little sun in Hebden Bridge with which to cast a shadow!!

More imagination please.

I was looking for something else when I spotted the artist's impression of the square/bridge gate scheme from December last year.

No sundial and no gawdy cobbles!

Perhaps a statue of Jeremiah would have been more appropriate?
