Bridges over the canal - Ice

From Martin G
Sunday, 16 December 2007

Last Friday morning, due to the ice, I felt badly on the bridge from Holme Street towards the park. Thinking this area is Calderdale's responsibility, I contacted them and advised them of the accident and asked if this and the other bridge, over to the Memorial Gardens, could be gritted.

From a Mike Heyes I have received a "service request number" of 46293 for the gritting. If anyone would like to support my request for gritting, and save other people from the prospect of Christmas with their right wrist in a cast, he can be contacted on Customer.First@calderdale.gov.uk.

I know that I am not the only person to have had problems when trying to cross this bridge, and it would be useful to hear of anybody else who has fallen and of subsequent action taken. Apparently British Waterways is the organisation responsible for these two bridges, not Calderdale. I will report on my contact with British Waterways.

Thank you.
