Hebden Bridge Aliens

Posted by Dave Boardman, Thursday, June 28, 2001

Yet another potentially successful season for the Hebden Bridge Aliens will be getting under way in September 2001. Each season has started as a potentially successful one without success actually materialising . That is, only if you count footballing success in terms of winning mtches and gaining points and trophies. The success of the Aliens is purely in their enjoyment of the game and the nature in which it is played - lots of determination, lots of desire and lots of what footballers call 'not getting the run of the ball'. This is what other, more cynical people would call getting beat.

However, post match celebration and levels of enjoyment are probably the greatest of any sporting institution in the area. Post match analysis and poetry - man of the match nominations are all in rhyme - in the Trades Club after each sunday morning game gains more spectators that the game itself.

Matches are played on Sunday mornings in and around the Halifax area and training for the new season will start on Thursday July 19. If you are interested in adding your silky skills to the squad contact team manager Dave Boardman via the Trades Club or email on vivndave@boardmand.fsnet.co.uk
