McDonald's at the TIC

The latest hype relating to the old tourist information centre is that it is to be the site for a new Harry Ramsdens fish and chip establishment.

This to me seems to be a nonesensical decision.

Firstly I believe the town is already well served by the two Fish and Chip shops which already exist.

The time of more than 2 Chip shops in Hebden Bridge is many years ago. (the last to close was Gills on Market street in the early eighties)

Surely Hebden Bridge would be better served by the TIC becoming a Burger King or McDonalds. The nearset examples of either of these burger stores are in Halifax some 7 miles away.

It is a long haul when all you want is a whopper or big mac, and try getting there before 10.30 for the breakfast, you have to get up by the latest 09.30.

I for one would welcome the burger giants into the TIC over yet another chip shop.

I would be interested to see if anyone else has any views on this or any other sugestions for alternatives to Harry Ramsden.

Please, Peter, tell us you're not serious about this. April Fools' Day was weeks ago!
