Is anyone other than us in Hebden Bridge "plagued" by a new breed of flies ? These are not your average house fly, they are a bit slow and you can catch them in mid-air. They have "puss" instead of blood (disgusting eh?- sorry)

I am also bothered with these flies.Investigation shows that they originate at the sewage works at Sandbed Charlestown. But the authorities are not intending doing anything about it so it`s tough I guess.

Yes! There seems to be a tedious little snotty-nosed type of fly doing the rounds. As you say, smaller and slower that your average bluebottle, and, by all accounts, fairly stupid.

I get about 10 or 12 every evening, although many of them seem to have suicidal tendencies, and self destruct in sink bowls or basins.

As I write this (8.15pm) I've just caught a couple with a swift clap of the hands.

I hate them. You are not alone!
