Meeting to discuss planning vision for next 15-20 years

Tuesday, 1 March 2011

People in the Calder Valley are to get their chance to say how their town or village should look in the future.

Calderdale Council is currently consulting on the draft Local Development Framework (LDF), which sets out the overall planning vision for Calderdale for the next 15 to 20 years.

The LDF sets out how land will be used, how places work, how people get around, the services available to them and the communities of which they are a part.

Calderdale Council has arranged a meeting at 7.30pm on Tuesday, March 8 in Hebden Bridge Town Hall, so that people can have a say in shaping their communities. The meeting is one of a series which have been arranged across Calderdale.

Council Leader, Cllr Janet Battye, says it's important that people take the opportunity to make their views known.

"The people who are best placed to say how their communities develop in the future are the people who are living and working in them now.

"Planning is always a delicate balance. So we need to know how we can protect our environment while at the same time providing the jobs, homes and all the facilities that we need to make Calderdale a great place to live.

"This is a really important issue and I do hope that as many people as possible come to the meeting and take the opportunity to make their ideas and views known."

The consultation document can be viewed online here.
