Singer-guitarist Chris Berry at Little Theatre
Chris Berry is both a singer-guitarist performer and a feature writer for the Yorkshire Post and next Sunday 15 September 7.30pm he brings his first ever solo tour to The Little Theatre in Hebden Bridge.
Chris has performed as support act for Ultravox frontman Midge Ure; TV star of the 80s/90s Joe Longthorne and fronts his own band Smiler at special events throughout Yorkshire.
Chris told the HebWeb, "My own show and tour is proving really great fun. I opened the tour in Malton on Thursday night (5 September) to a packed Studio Theatre and we all had such a great time. The mix of songs I play is everything from popular covers including Brown Eyed Girl; Valerie; Proud Mary and I Love To Boogie and some lovely ballads to provide a nice balance. I also play some of my own songs including Wonderful Smile that has also been covered by a few artists and has done well so far on YouTube and iTunes.
"I’m really looking forward to the concert at the Little Theatre in Hebden Bridge. It’s a lovely venue and is hopefully an area where I have a following through my writing and performing.
"I’ve been told that people in Hebden Bridge don’t buy tickets beforehand that you guys all just come on the night. I must admit I’m a little concerned about that but hopefully I’ll get a nice number in on Sunday.
"It will be a very intimate night with just me and my guitar and the audience. I really enjoy these kind of evenings and what I can tell everyone is that we will have a lot of fun too. I’m not some kind of highbrow entertainer, I just want us all to have fun. There are a few little extras to the night too where the audience can choose what I play."
Chris has written for the Yorkshire Post and many other publications for the past two decades. He is also responsible for The Singing Farmers concerts that have raised much-needed funds for charity in the past ten years. And has ghost-written two autobiographies on behalf of entertainer Joe Longthorne and Coronation Street’s Les Battersby – Bruce Jones.
