Local firm to offer broadband

Tuesday, July 23, 2002

Calder Wireless Broadband, based in Mytholmroyd, has told the Hebden Bridge Web that it will provide broadband Internet access via wireless links to Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd, the surrounding area and beyond.

Andrew Foster told us that the new company is an offshoot of Calder Communications Ltd of Mytholmroyd which has been providing local and wide networking, telephone systems, internet connectivity and wireless links for over 2 years.

Prices for the service will be £99 Installation and £34.99 per month for private/residential users and £260 Installation / £99.00 per month for business users (plus VAT). This will be for a 256k Upload / 512k download service. Services up to 2 Mb will be available with an increase in cost.

Andrew Foster said that the only thing they were waiting for is funding. "It looks like we are set to have this minor issue resolved in three months time at which point we will erect our antennae and begin service shortly afterwards."

The Hebweb has been campaigning for digital access for our area - see the Campaign for Digital Access section of the Hebden Bridge Web.
