Calder Holmes Park saved
Friday, June 21, 2002

Party leaders at Calderdale Counncil have ruled out turning Calder Holmes into a carpark as proposed by consultants Bertram Sheppard. The issue has aroused strong local feeling. Bob Metcalfe, leader of the Labour Group also stated that it was important that we have informed debate around the other proposals so that we can get the right scheme for Hebden Bridge.

The other proposals include pedestrianisation of St George's Square, plans to charge for all street parking, the introduction of a new one way system, a 20 mph speed limit and moving the market.
