Screwtop Jazz win Young Bands competition

On Friday Night 8th July 2005. Screwtop Jazz were the winners of the Young Bands category of the Stars in their Minds Competition run by The Riverside Festival and largely hosted by The Trades Club.

Screwtop Jazz is a six piece band of 14 -17 year olds who play a mixture of covers as diverse as 'AS' (Stevie Wonder) and 'Fell in Love with a Girl' (White Stripes) as well as their own compositions. They have a huge support base of local fans and have been fantastically well supported through every stage of the competition. The band has been playing together for only four months and is delighted to have won the final.

Their prize is five days in a recording studio - which will enable them to produce a promotional CD, so keep your eye on this lot; we are sure to see a lot more of them over the next couple of years!
