"Samba City" classes will be starting in September and are open to absolute beginners, as well as more experienced drummers and percussionists, over the age of 16. The "Samba City" course is an opportunity to gain an Open College Network qualification in Samba and Brazilian rhythms, as well as just having fun.

Registration for the Course is on:

Sunday, September 21st at 2pm for registration, Class fees: £2 - £3 per session.

Sessions run as follows:-
  • 2pm-3pm Community Open hour for beginners, new members
  • 3pm-5pm Advanced and performance practice (beginners and new members are welcome to stay and play)

Children over the age of 10 who want to learn to play are welcome to join in the Community sessions (during the open hour) but must be accompanied by an adult.

The Samba Band has had a successful year - entertaining thousands of people at such local events as Hebden Bridge Carnival and Arts Festival, Todmorden Carnival, TodFest , as well as busking regularly around Hebden Bridge.

In the coming year, we hope to branch out into running specialist workshops with guest teachers, learning Samba dancing and more costume making. We would like to become part of the much wider network of Samba Bands within our region and are considering organising a "Northern Samba Gathering!!"

SO......if you fancy and bit of a wild time, doing something different, learning new skills, having fun, and you don't need to know how to drum - Come along and play percussion or dance with us!!!!
