HEBDEN BRIDGE FESTIVAL

Welcome to the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival website.

An annual highlight for the Calder Valley, Hebden Bridge Arts Festival brings the best national and international artists and performers to the area each summer for a celebration of comedy, music, dance, drama, literature and visual arts.

The 2009 Festival will run from Friday  June 26 to Sunday July 12 and promises to be another fortnight of dazzling and diverse performances.

On Friday, 10th July Hebden Bridge Arts Festival sees Barb Jungr launching a new show produced by Warren Lakin and Mike McCarthy. Accompanied by Jenny Carr and Jessica Lauren, ‘Tell It Like It Is – Barb Jungr sings songs of War and Peace’ is based on her performance earlier in the year in the International Voices Series for The South Bank and features songs by Bragg, Brel, Cohen, Dylan, Previn, Bogle and Stevens among more. The show will support the work of International Alert and will feature Don McCullum’s photographs. The show is booked for the Edinburgh Festival. Carol Ann Duffy

Festival spotlight falls on Mytholmroyd
This year's Hebden Bridge Arts Festival features a number of events in Mytholmroyd. Festival co-ordinator Rebecca Yorke said: "We're pleased to be able to expand the festival into Mytholmroyd and are looking forward to meeting new audiences.".. . . .. Printed copies of the programmes will be available in Hebden Bridge, Todmorden, Mytholmroyd and beyond from May 9.   Postal booking opens on May 11 and the box office opens for face to face and telephone business on Saturday June 13.

Festival performers on tv and radio this week: Shappi Khorsandi was on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow last Saturday and will be on Friday Night with Johnathan Ross this weekend. AL Kennedy , appearing on Saturday 11 July was a regular guest on Radio 4 last week, debating the election of the new Speaker.

The Festival Shop is home to our box office and our gallery.  This is available for use by local artists throughout the year.  Please contact us if you’d like more information.
