MytholmroydMytholmroyd Station - latest

Who would have believed it?

Way back in 2006, a group of local residents decided they would adopt Mytholmroyd station and make it an attractive and welcoming place for everyone to come and go by train.

Starting with a few flower tubs, the project has grown to encompass the wider community – from school age to octogenarians.

Most of the original members are still with us – after 15 years of dedicated work for the village through all kinds of weather including the Mytholmroyd Monsoon which always seems to strike during our Friday 'Dig-in' afternoons!

Community Rail award

It was through this dedication and the enthusiasm and support of the local community and Northern Trains, that to our surprise in 2019 we won the top national Outstanding Contribution to Community Rail award.

Queen's Award for Voluntary Service

Not for resting on any laurels, we found our group had been nominated for the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service and from the hundreds of entries nationally - Mytholmroyd Station Partnership was one of the 240 winners.

Community Hub

So, apart from meeting (Covid restrictions permitting) and gossiping with our super, friendly team during the gardening sessions – we are also (slowly) advancing towards having a Community Hub from what used to be a derelict station building.

We would like to hear from anyone with the experience and enthusiasm to become involved with the building project – even considering becoming a Trustee.

Join the group

With (hopefully) the Covid restrictions being eased, there is no better time than now to branch out and join our nationally acclaimed station group. It can not only be fun with meeting new people and friends, it is also personally rewarding – making a valuable contribution to our super local community for future generations.
