The local Calderdale candidates for the 3rd May election

Calder Ward

Ruby Berridge (Green), Stewart Brown (Lab), David O'Neill (Lib Dem) - no Conservative candidate! It is expected that with a 3 way election many Tory votes will go to the Liberal Democrat candidate who would already have been the favourite to win in the normal 4 way election.

Luddenden Foot Ward

John Beacroft-Mitchell (Lib Dem), James Fearon (Lab), John Gregory (BNP), Richard Marshall (Con)

On Thursday, 3rd May we will have the opportunity to vote for Calderdale councillors. Calder Ward covers Hebden Bridge and four surrounding Parish Councils (Heptonstall, Erringden, Wadsworth, and Blackshawhead), and Luddenden ward covers Mytholmroyd, Luddenden and surrounding areas. Three councillors represent each ward. This year we vote for one of them. Nominations must be in by noon on Wednesday 4 April 2007.

Every four years, we also have the opportunity to elect Town and Parish councils. Hebden Royd Town Council is comprised of three councillors from each of the following wards: Birchcliffe, Caldene, Cragg Vale, Fairfield, West End, White Lee. Nominations must be in by noon on Wednesday 4 April 2007.

Elections are also taking place for 9 Heptonstall parish councillors, 9 Wadsworth parish councillors and 5 Erringden parish councillors. Nominations for these too have to be in by next Wednesday.
