Void If Detached
gothic/ghost film needs actors

Wednesday, 5 September 2007

I’m looking for 4 principal actors plus 2 actors for smaller parts, for a low budget, Screen Yorkshire- funded digital short. I can only pay low wages unfortunately but you will be catered for on shoots, receive a DVD of the film and hopefully have a good time doing what you love with people who are intent on making the best short film they can.

Void If Detached is a gothic/ghost film about a driven man in his forties who is haunted by memories of his coldness and jealousy towards his wife - a free spirit who has just died; in his distress, he overlooks the needs of his teenage daughter, seeing her only as the ghost of her mother.

It will be filmed in and around Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire over 4 days from Thursday 27th- Sunday 30th September. Pay is £50/day for the shoot. There will also be a one day rehearsal/production meeting before the shoot, which will not be paid because the budget won’t run to it.

The principal roles are:

Alan – the haunted widower in his mid forties.

Janet –20, Alan’s girlfriend who became his wife. She is a young woman with a mind of her own.

Rose – Alan and Janet’s 16 year old daughter. She wants her father to stop acting weird and to leave her mother’s possessions and memory in peace.

Jason (3 days) - Rose’s 16 year old boyfriend, who wants her to remember life goes on.

The smaller parts (1 day only) are:

Alan aged 20, jealous of Janet’s confidence and her friendship with another lad, Paul.

Paul - Janet’s easygoing friend.

Extras (unpaid, half day): Mourners.

Acting experience is not essential. I am happy to work with people who look right for the part, are open, committed to exploring the experience and able to take direction.
Auditions will be from 1pm on Monday 10th September in Hebden Bridge. If you’re interesting in auditioning, or would like further info, please email me at Jennycarlyle@aol.com. For auditioning, please attach your cv and photo.
