Join the workparty this Saturday

The first AGM of the Friends of Calder Holmes Park was held on Monday evening. Attended by almost 50 people, the meeting formally constituted the group and a committee was elected.

Representatives of Hebden Royd Bowlers, Wadsworth Town FC, skate boarders, The Round Table, The Rotary Club playground users and local residents along with Calderdale MBC and Hebden Royd Town Council Elected members and Officers attended the meeting.

Ideas raised included improvements to the play areas, kick pitches and tennis courts. Redevelopment of the pavilion and fencing the bowling green were suggested. Consideration was also given to ensuring events such as the Vintage Car Rally Weekend and the bonfire continue. Policing in the park and the completion of the new walkway from the park to the station were also discussed.

Practical projects were highlighted and this weekend sees an opportunity to complete the painting of the kick pitch. Volunteers are invited to come along between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, weather permitting to help. All materials will be supplied, all that is needed is enthusiasm and some old clothes.
