Big Green Weekend Boasts Big Green Market!

Tuesday, 31 March 2009

This year's Hebden Bridge Big Green Weekend, over the 23rd, 24th and 25th of May, will see an outdoor market selling a wide range of low carbon, locally sourced and ethical goodies, using the car park at the end of Bridge Gate, by the river. The traders are being carefully chosen to deliver a well-blended and low carbon mix, and give the best possible experience to the Big Green Weekend visitor.

Organiser Jason Elliott said, "I'm very pleased to say that we have agreed that the registration and organisation will be provided by Calderdale Markets, who will also be providing the stalls themselves where necessary. We will be working together to ensure that local traders with the greenest offerings are prioritised."

Calderdale Markets manager, John Walker, is delighted with the tie-up, saying "We have always tried to help stimulate local economies whilst promoting sustainability. This event gives us a high profile platform on which to get this message across together with an opportunity to support and participate in a fantastic community event."

The cost for traders will be less than half that of last year and stalls will be allocated on the basis of the sustainability and relevance of what is being offered, whether there are other stalls selling the same thing, and how far the traders have to travel to get to Hebden Bridge.
