Success for The King's Troup, Hebden drama group

Sunday, 13 May 2012

The King's Troupe is an intergenerational theatre group based in Hebden Bridge specialising in Shakespeare. They are an enthusiastic and dynamic group, and what is especially exciting is the fact that people of all ages and experience play opposite each other: ages range from 4 to 63 years old.

They have been part of the Royal Shakespeare Company's Open Stages project for the past year along with 300 other amateur drama groups from around the country.

The King's Troupe have been selected to perform sections of Henry IV Part 1 at the Contact Theatre, Manchester on 25th May 2012, and then to perform their full adaptation of the play at The Dell open air theatre in Stratford Upon Avon on the 26th August 2012. This forms part of the World Shakespeare Festival which is the crowning glory of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
