Kerouac’s Dream – A Life on the Road

Picture House, New Road, Hebden Bridge

8.00pm (to 10.30pm approx)
£10 (£8)

Inspired by Jack Kerouac’s novel On the Road Allan Taylor left his home in the sixties with nothing more than a guitar and a hunger to live the life of the travelling troubadour. The first half of the evening is a film by Jack Shea, Who Owns Jack Kerouac? A powerful and controversial documentary exploring the relationship between Jack and his never formally acknowledged daughter Jan. “One of the most important films ever made about the Kerouac legend” (Beat Poet Ron Whitehead)

This is followed by a concert by Allan Taylor of his songs “On the Road”.

“I think you are more purely musical than just about anyone I know” (Tom Paxton)

“…[Allan Taylor] should probably be regarded as potentially the most important songwriter of his generation” (Dr Frederick Woods, The Oxford Book of Traditional Verse)
