Calder Valley Voices

Methodist Church, Bridge Lanes, Hebden Bridge

7.30pm (to 10.00pm approx)
£7.50 (£5)

Calder Valley Voices is Hebden Bridge’s own community choir, with members from throughout the Upper Valley and beyond. We don’t audition, or ask that members read music – anyone and everyone can sing. Under the expert guidance of musical director Kate Howard, we enjoy songs from many traditions – the Balkans and Eastern Europe, American gospel and shape-note, mediaeval European and British folk – a world feast of unaccompanied harmonies.

Ovid’s Metamorphoses

Hugh Lupton and Daniel Morden

Little Theatre, Holme Street, Hebden Bridge

8.00pm (to 10.00pm approx.)
£9 (£7)

A welcome return by two of Britain’s master
storytellers, this time with Ovid’s wonderful tales of transformation which form some of the Western World’s most enduring myths. The stories including Demeter and Persephone, Orpheus in the Underworld and Echo and Narcissus, have had a huge influence on our culture, and still have the power to charm and chill today.

“…praise be to Morden and Lupton, who made the gods live…”
(The Times)

“The tale of Echo and Narcissus stopped all our hearts, however hardened by age” (The Guardian)
