There are a growing number of residents who are interested in exploring the possibility of installing a turbine to produce electricity for the village. If you are interested in this idea please register your interest on this forum or just keep checking it for details of any meetings.

Community energy production does not necessarily mean individuals investing large amounts of money. There are various finance options open to communities but not open to businesses. And it doesn't necessarily mean erecting a turbine (in Old town or elsewhere as per Finn's suggestion) - solar and hydro might work on a community level too, and we should consider wood fuel and the supply implications of that. As a group we could get financial help and advice on improvements to individual households as well as community-scale installations. The ATC has offered to put on a workshop for a group from Old Town if we are interested in the whole idea of community energy. If you are interested, please get in touch.
