Nutclough - Potential Water Pollution Alert

From Caroline Hodgson

Monday, 5 November 2012

This evening while walking up Nutclough, I noticed that the water is bright green - it looks as though someone has put a vast quantity of antifreeze into it.

I called the Environment Agency who tell me they are sending someone out this evening. They say it's possible that there are tests going on that require dye in the water, but he wouldn't rule out the possibility of blue-green algae either. He couldn't comment but said he certainly wouldn't let his dog near the water!

The number to call if anyone wants an update is 0800 80 70 60, and the incident number is 1053614.

In the meantime please keep your dogs out of the water!
