Big Lottery funds for women's cancer support group

Saturday, 9 March 2013

Living Well, Calderdale Women's Cancer Support Network, has been awarded a £5993 grant from the Big Lottery 'Awards for All' to enable it to continue supporting women living with cancer.

Living Well meets on the last Saturday of the month (except August) in Todmorden at Todmorden Methodist Church, Union Street, Todmorden, OL14 5AW from 9.30 am - 2pm. We welcome all women who have or had cancer and their carers or supporters. The much-needed funds will pay for meeting room hire, an experienced cook to provide meals using healthy and anti-cancer ingredients, cancer-related training for the volunteer complementary therapists who give treatments such as reiki, reflexology and aromatherapy massage and for publicity leaflets and a website.

Carol Sellars, a Living Well and member of the coordinating group who made the lottery bid and a user of the group said, "We are delighted to receive these funds. Living Well helps women with cancer gain a sense of hope, vitality and positive energy. The complementary therapies help us feel relaxed and cared for and users offer support and friendship. This money will ensure more women know about the group and become involved and enable Living Well to flourish in the coming year".

To be involved in Living Well, as a user, helper or qualified complementary therapist, contact Living Well on 07794 688180 If you leave an answerphone message, someone will ring you back.

Our next meeting is Saturday 23rd March, 2013
