Hebden Bridge Comedy Club: Rob Rouse and Will Franken

Rob RouseAlthough The Hebden Bridge Comedy Club has a proud reputation of selling out the majority of it's shows in advance October's show is selling well already. A combination of popular telly comic Rob Rouse and quirky American act Will Franken mean tickets on the night are highly unlikely and buying sooner rather than later is highly recommended.

The show takes place on Sunday 13th October, upstairs at The Old Gate Bar and Restaurant, Hebden Bridge and tickets are £8.50, either from the venue or online.

Cheshire born Rob Rouse had his life pretty much mapped out as a geography teacher until entering the prestigious 'So You Think You're Funny?' comedy competition. Rob's mates had always told him he was funny and he had a fair old suspicion that he was too but when he won the comp outright it was pretty much confirmed. With previous winners including Peter Kay and Lee Mack a career in comedy seemed a lot more attractive than the drudgery of the classroom...

Rob's confidence certainly wasn't misplaced and he has become a TV regular on shows such as 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Celebrity Juice and Spoons as well as appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe and other comedy festivals worldwide.

A natural performer, Rob has many voices in his head and, when unleashed, his shows become more like a hysterically funny play than one man telling very funny tales.

"The tears of laughter came in floods" Edinburgh Evening News "He's a man with genuinely funny bones." Sunday Times

Will FrankenAdding an international flavour to the proceedings is Will Franken who fled his native Missouri, to seek his fame and fortune in New York City. Instead, he found bagels and the Mets. The Mets had fame and fortune already; but that wasn't enough for Franken, who wanted his own. His creative urges were satisfied in New York's Greenwich Village's although it was adverts for Heineken, Sprint, and Volkswagen that kept him alive.

His television debut was on BBC America's "The World Stands Up" and he has appeared at HBO's Comedy Festival in Las Vegas as well as Just For Laughs in Montreal. Last summer, Will was invited by Fringe Management to make his debut at last year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It went rather well. He is now UK based and audiences have been wowed by his Pythonesque one man sketches and bizarre impressions.

Middle act for the evening is Paul McMullan and resident compere is Martin Mor. The show starts at 8pm prompt and advanced tickets are strongly advised.
