Street Choirs Festival returns to Hebden Bridge

Tuesday, 21 January 2014

Over the weekend of 11th - 13th July, Calder Valley Voices, with Calder Valley Women Singers, are hosting the 2014 Street Choirs Festival. As many as 35 choirs from all over the country, with up to 800 people, will be singing on the streets of Hebden Bridge.

The Street Choirs Festival was held previously in Hebden Bridge in 2002.

Calder Valley Voices have told the HebWeb that what they need from "the very generous people of the Upper Valley" are spare beds, sofa-beds and air beds!

With guest accommodation being in short supply in the town and with many of the b&b's already fully booked for that weekend, they are looking for people to host a singer or two for the two nights for free. You don't need to offer meals - just bathroom facilities, maybe tea / coffee and somewhere for them to rest their weary heads.

In return, hosts will be welcome to join the Festival for free at the concert on Friday night when they are being entertained by the Seize the Day and O'Hooley and Tiddow, amongst others.

If you can help, please contact Calder Valley Voices through the Street Choirs 2014 website, or find it through Calder Valley Voices website. Or you can email Ali Miles on and be emailed a copy.
