Hope Baptist Church renovation and events

Monday, 29 September 2014

Having completed a £500,000 repair project on the chapel, Hope Baptist Church are now turning their sights onto the toilet block at the rear of the building that is in need of major refurbishment. The church has so far offers of grants and loans totalling nearly £40,000 towards the £65,000 cost of the work. A music event on Saturday 4th October and a 2015 calendar give people a chance to pledge their support.

'Mellow' is the title for an evening of music featuring local bands 'Forever Young' and 'Splynta', along with other guests. Doors are open at 7.00pm for 7.30pm. The event is not ticketed and the audience is invited to pay as they leave, with all contributions going towards chapel development.

A 2015 calendar titled 'Non-Conformists' portrays activities in four chapels in the Calder Valley over the past year. Partly inspired by work in the 1970s by world-famous photographer Martin Parr, the black and white images show events ranging from simple acts of hospitality to the impact of Tour de France this summer. The A4 calendars at £5 and can bepurchased online
