Mayor Launches Hebden Royd Heroes Award

Monday, 28 September 2020

The Mayor of Hebden Royd, Cllr Val Stevens is seeking nominations from residents to nominate those who have made outstanding contributions within the Hebden Royd community during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The #HebdenRoydHeroes award, which opens for nominations from today, Monday 28 September, offers residents the chance to say thank you to all the unsung local heroes, including family, friends, neighbours and community groups, and to recognise their extraordinary efforts since the pandemic began.

Cllr Val Stevens said, "This year had been difficult for everyone, and we know the restrictions may continue for longer into next year. That is why the Town Council would like to thank those people who are sometimes not noticed who have been making lives just a little more bearable for the rest of us."

The Mayor continues, "Do you know someone who has gone above and beyond either by volunteering or leading a community group to benefit residents in the Hebden Royd community? Or perhaps you know someone who has shopped and collected prescriptions and essential items for their neighbours? We want to hear from you!"

Nominating your #HebdenRoydHero is easy. Simply email the Town Council with 'Hebden Royd Hero Nomination' in the subject title, and include your details, the details of the person you are nominating, and provide a brief description of how they have supported the community throughout this health crisis. If possible, please add a photo of the individual or individuals you are nominating.

Nominations are open until Monday 19th October and winners will be contacted by email and receive a Hebden Royd Heroes certificate of recognition to be displayed at home, at work or in a community venue.

The Hebden Royd Heroes will also be publicised via the HebWeb, Hebden Royd Town Council website and social media channels
