New Councillors Wanted

Are you community spirited, do you care about what takes place on your doorstep and would like to contribute to your community's future? Then becoming a Parish Councillor might be for you.

Community orientated Wadsworth Parish Council is still looking to co-opt additional members.

Wadsworth Parish Council might be rural but in fact it is one of the largest parishes in in England, covering Old Town, Pecket Well, Crimsworth and large parts of Hardcastle Crags and Wadsworth Moor.

The Parish Council owns allotments, garages and parking spaces, all leased to local residents, as well as Wadsworth Community Centre, leased at a pepper corn rent to the Community Association, Smeekin Hill War Memorial and surrounding land at Pecket Well as well as two play areas, one in Pecket well and one on Old Town Village Green. The village green is also owned and managed by the Parish Council.

Councillors, among many other things, address residents' concerns, comment on planning applications, pay out grants to local community organisations and speak up on behalf of the local community.

The Parish Council currently meets on-line once a month, on a Tuesday at 7.30 pm, the meetings are friendly and include a public question time.

You do not need any specific qualifications but you do need to be over 18 and live within or within a few miles of the Parish.
