Hebden Royd Heroes award winners

Recognising the incredible work of people in Hebden Royd during the coronavirus outbreak, Hebden Royd Town Council asked for nominations for those who have made outstanding contributions within the community during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The awards shine a spotlight on the everyday heroes, individuals and groups, who have gone above and beyond to deliver the highest level of support and assistance within their community during 2020.

Mayor of Hebden Royd, Cllr Val Stevens said, “Thank you to everyone that sent in nominations for our Hebden Royd Hero awards. It is wonderful to be able to celebrate those that have gone above and beyond during a very difficult year. How fortunate we all are to be part of this wonderful community.”

Without further ado, Hebden Royd Town Council are delighted to announce the following #HebdenRoydHeroes with their reasons for being nominated:

The heroes

Janet Lymer
A community volunteer for Hebden Bridge & District Older People's Welfare Committee and Calder Community Cares which supports vulnerable people during the Covid-19 pandemic. Janet is also a volunteer flood relief worker.

Dave Moses
For keeping the Calder Valley Radio station running during the pandemic and giving up to date local news and information to the residents of Hebden Royd.

Janet Brookes and Sharon Brooks
Nominated for keeping the post office / shop open seven days a week from 6.30am since the Covid pandemic started, and providing efficient, caring service and advice.

Dipak Lad - He has always been knowledgeable and is a helpful person but since lockdown he has delivered an excellent service as Mytholmroyd Pharmacy Manager.

Each winner has been contacted by email and will receive a framed Hebden Royd Heroes certificate of recognition by the Mayor when it is safe to do so.
