Festival Fever in Heptonstall

Thursday, 8 July 2010

The Cross Inn in Heptonstall, have raised £350 toward this year’s village festival. The money which has been raised though a donation jar and proceeds from the weekly bonus ball competition will help toward the cost of licences, performers and first aiders.

Festival Organiser, Peter Hayward said: "This is a very welcome boost to the Festival funds. It’s typical of the generosity and commitment that Owen and Lisa at The Cross Inn have shown toward the village community."

This year’s Heptonstall Festival will be on Saturday 17th July, showcasing local performers in an afternoon of magic, music and storytelling. The event starts at 12 noon on Weavers Square and will continue after 6pm in the Cross Inn. The day is set to be an exciting one with storytelling for young and old by Hebden Bridge actress Ursula Holden-Gill and performances by local magician Neal Alexander.

There will be Morris Dancing by the fabulous Hebden Hill Millies and a succession of bands will play throughout the afternoon including Heptonstall’s own Fat Rascals and TC & the Swingcats. There will be a number of stalls to provide refreshment and craft demonstrations. You could try your hand at weaving courtesy of the Bradford Guild of Handweavers or watch Master Farrier Lee Ashworth demonstrate shoeing a horse.

Owen O’Sullivan, Landlord of The Cross Inn said "The community has been terrific donating towards the festival. We are all looking forward to a great day".
