Hebden Bridge Arts Festival

Record turnout for Arts Festival open meeting

Wednesday, 7 November 2012

There was a record turn-out at the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival's open
meeting in the Town Hall.

The festival's volunteer coordinators Diane Fare and Katherine
Wackerbarth were busy signing up new volunteers as they discussed a
special exhibition of festival photographs curated by committee member
Chris Bradley.

Festival photographers Sarah Mason and Craig Shaw were on hand to
discuss their work documenting a rich variety of events.

Local artists also turned up to find out how they could get involved
with the festival which shares its opening date with the Handmade
Parade on June 22 2013.

Festival Chair Sara Robinson about his work

New festival chair Sara Robinson opened the event saying the committee
were committed to reaching people who might have had little connection
to the town's biggest festival and paying tribute to the tireless work
volunteers do every year.

"The stark reality is without our brilliant volunteers there would be
no festival," says Artistic Director Helen Meller. "This event was
both a thank you to past volunteers, and a chance to recruit new
people to make sure our exciting programme for next year gets off the
ground.

"It was great to see so many artists in the room and we even managed
to find a few more people keen to run community based events.

If anyone couldn't make the open meeting you can find out more about
being a volunteer by emailing Helen.
