Calderdale Refugee Week

Monday, 7 June 2021

Refugee Week is happening from 14th to 20th June 2021 in various places in Calderdale. Some events are online and some are in person but they are all free to attend.

More information on the Calderdale Valley of Sanctuary website

Calderdale Valley of Sanctuary is part of the City of Sanctuary movement. They offer a place of safety for refugees seeking sanctuary from war and persecution and celebrate asylum seekers' and refugees' contribution to our area!

Initially led by St. Augustine's Centre, it draws on a growing network of support. Groups have come together from across the Calder Valley to make it a Valley of Sanctuary.

There are many events that could be highlighted but here are a few:

  • Throughout the week, there are dance / movement workshops for young people
  • On Monday 14th June, there is a webinar to launch the week from 11am-12 am produced by people with lived experience of the asylum and refugee process
