Hebden Royd to take part in Great Big Green Week in a bid to tackle climate crisis

The Hebden Royd Town Council is inviting residents and businesses to join Hebden Royd’s Great Big Green Week. The nationwide event runs from 18th – 26th September and will see the community celebrate how Hebden Royd is taking action to tackle climate change, protect our green spaces and encourage conversation about climate change.

The Great Big Green Week takes place just five weeks before the UN ‘COP26’ Climate Conference takes place in Glasgow, where politicians will set out how they plan to fulfil their promise of reducing greenhouse gases across the world.

Cllr Nikki Harvey said, “Hebden Royd has long been committed to preserving the town’s rich biodiversity and stunning natural spaces. We’re proud to be taking part in this year’s Great Big Green Week, which highlights the vital importance of our ecosystems and provides the perfect opportunity to show decision makers that people from all walks of life, here in Hebden Royd and across the country, are stepping up to act on climate change.

“During the Great Big Green Week we challenge the community to share anything you have done as an individual, group or business to help combat climate change. It could be changing to a green energy provider, growing your own veg, driving less, or simply encouraging wildlife into a space by planting bee friendly plants; the smallest of actions do have impact and show our commitment to a greener, healthier and fairer future.”
