New Local Environment & Allotments Officer
Hebden Royd Town Council is delighted to announce the appointment of Gareth Muir as the new Local Environment & Allotments Officer. Gareth will play a key role within the Town Council, aligning with the community's efforts to develop, protect and enhance the local environment and green spaces.
While based at the Council Office at the Town Hall, Gareth will also be frequently found out and about at Town Council managed allotments and at High Hirst Woodmeadow, helping to coordinate and deliver a wide range of environmental projects and sustainability initiatives.
Gareth said, "I'm excited to be joining Hebden Royd Town Council and to contribute to the protection and improvement of our local environment. I'm passionate about working with the community to make our green spaces more vibrant, resilient, and accessible for everyone. I look forward to meeting local residents and getting stuck in!"
His role will see him leading on practical improvements to the local environment, supporting the Town Council's ongoing response to the climate emergency, and ensuring public green spaces are well-managed and thriving. Gareth will also be central to the planning and delivery of community events focused on environmental awareness and engagement.
Chair of the Local Environment and Climate Emergency Committee, Cllr Steve Woodhead, said, "We are thrilled to welcome Gareth to the team. His skills and enthusiasm will be a real asset as we continue our work to improve and protect our local environment and meet our climate goals."
With a focus on managing the Council's green assets in addition to delivering well-established projects such as Hebden Royd's hanging baskets and planters scheme, Gareth's role is key to creating a more sustainable and resilient future for the community.
