Beekeeping: A Beginner's Guide

Tuesday 28th April, 7pm - The Trades Club

Join us at The Trades Club on Tuesday 28 April for a colourful and enlightening exploration of the world of beekeeping.

Richard Searle and Kay Phillips will guide you through the pleasures (and potential pains) of this fast-growing and highly-rewarding hobby.

Learn about the anatomy of bees and the organisation of the hive. Become familiar with the equipment you'll need to get started and find out how to manage your own colony.

And connect with the local beekeeping community.

This free tutorial will whet your appetite, give you all the essential basics and set you up perfectly for one of the seasonal beekeeping courses that start in early summer.

Intrigued? Come and join us at 7pm on Tuesday 28 April to find out more. It's a free event. Just sign up at TheTradesClub.com to guarantee your spot.

Richard Searle and Kay Philips are based in Old Town and are both active members of the Halifax & District Beekeepers Association. They started beekeeping in 2012 on an allotment in North Manchester.

Richard works for Northern Bee Books, in Mytholmroyd. Kay is the Seasonal Bee Inspector for West Yorkshire. She'll be speaking at the event in a personal capacity.

Richard and Kay have hives dotted around Hebden Bridge and sell honey locally.
