Hare and Hounds up for sale

Last week Wadsworth Area Community Assets (WACA) were contacted by Rory Deighton, the current owner of the Hare and Hounds Inn, who let them know that he has triggered the Community Right to Bid process with Calderdale and will soon be putting the property up for sale. This is a very positive step they are grateful for this offer to open discussions with WACA over a community purchase of the pub.

After a quickly arranged emergency Board Meeting, as you would expect WACA responded positively to set up a meeting, and  have also formally expressed an intention to bid for the property with Calderdale.

On Friday of last week, representatives of the WACA Board met with Rory, and we agreed Heads of Terms - a non-binding agreement providing a framework for constructive negotiations.

The 2 parties are now in constructive and positive discussion.

For more information about the Community Right to Bid process, see the live Hare and Hounds Inn listing on the Calderdale Council website

After the WACA Board Meeting on Thursday 9 April, they will be able to share more about the process and to describe how they plan to consult with the local community on this exciting project. They are looking for members and volunteers, and they'll soon be sharing our plans for how people can get more involved.

The process of community fundraising and public campaigning can involve strong views. WACA is committed to ensuring that all such activity is conducted in a positive and respectful manner at all times, and trusts that all supporters of WACA and members of the wider community will do the same.

If you have any questions or concerns, get in touch with WACA at info@WACACoop.org.uk.

The Rightmove page for this sale says "offers in excess of £500k" are being sought.
