Alice a fight for Life Around 70 people attended the screening of the documentary Alice a Fight for Life at the Picture House, followed by discussion with an expert panel. The Hinchcliffe Arms opens kitchen - The kitchen at the historic Hinchliffe Arms is officially opening on 11 Aug 2022. The pub is an integral part of the Cragg Vale community and it aims to provide "a vibrant and convivial space for all to be refreshed, sustained and entertained." Read more

A Very British Meteorite Martin Lunn told a recent meeting of the University of the 3rd Age that the Middlesborough Meteorite came to Earth at Pennymans's Siding, part of the North Eastern Railway Line which at that time was in Yorkshire, and was witnessed by four railwaymen. Read report 25 Aug

Liz Truss's Hebden Bridge past - Tory leadership contender, Liz Truss was the Conservative candidate for our Calder Valley seat in the 2005 General Election, and lived in Hebden Bridge. She was defeated by Labour's Chris McCafferty, having misled local Tories about her private life. Read more 25 July

Play Write! – A Festival of New Drama At the end of July, Hebden Bridge Little Theatre plays host to a special event in the arts calendar, as the second Play Write! Festival takes place. Read more 30 June

Try out an e-bike: A new family-friendly festival takes place in Mytholmroyd on Sun 3 July. The event will give people chance to try out electric bikes free of charge on a traffic-free section of Cragg Road, the longest continuous ascent in the country. Read more

Open Studios 2022 The annual Open Studios event this year is from 1-3 July. Over 40 venues are already displaying artwork by Open Studios artists in their windows. Read more
